The primary role of Pakistan Orthodontic Journal is: the presentation of timely quality research and archiving for future reference. With assuming the position as Editor in Chief, I realize how important this role is in the success of the journal and the great responsibility that the editor has in guiding the publication on time. It is an honour and a challenge to take on this responsibility. I am pleased to follow the strong example set by my predecessor, Professor Ulfat Bashir.
In the journals publication process the most important are its authors, reviewers and readers and for POJ to be successful, it must meet the needs of an orthodontist in a timely and efficient way. The editorial board involved in the journal's production, have a great responsibility to provide an effective means to disseminate research work by motivated authors. The authors however also has a responsibility to submit appropriate, high-quality manuscripts for consideration and to serve as peer reviewers in an expeditious way when called upon to do so. The editorial board is thankful to those who have been a helping hand at numerous occasions to keep the ball rolling.
It is also my pleasure to introduce the following new members of our editorial board: Professor Rehan Qamar and Dr. Maham Niazi. They agreed to serve the editorial team and I thank them for taking time from their busy schedules to volunteer and serve our community.
