Wishing the best for the future

This would be my last editorial as Editor in Chief of POJ, as my tenure comes to an end on 31 December 2016. I must comment on the vision of my predecessor and the founding Editor in Chief of POJ Dr. Amjad Mahmood who started the journal in 2009. Since then the journal has grown and now it receives a lot of manuscripts for publication. I am pleased to inform our readers that our viewership and downloads have greatly increased over a period of time.

During my time as Editor-in-Chief, I have worked closely with the journal's Co-Editor’s and Associate Editors to maintain regularity and standard of quality. It was not easy at the beginning nor is it now, as publishing the journal takes a lot of effort with other commitments at hand. However with the support of the editorial board and the entire orthodontic community the journal has improved. I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who has put in their efforts to help, especially our reviewers who have always been very cooperative. I would like to highlight the two most significant achievements during the last few years which were having the journal recognized with PM&DC and then HEC.

We have come a long way since the first issue was published. Now the journal is online free of cost. It has a smart phone application. The aim was to bring it to our members and readers with utmost convenience.

I am proud to have been able to contribute to the journal over the past five years and I am very pleased to announce that Professor Haroon Shahid Qazi will be taking over as the new Editor-in-Chief. I am sure that he will do his best to further improve and develop the journal. I wish him the very best.
